Xul Solar: Perspectivas historiográficas e imagen técnica

Abstract

El artículo propone una revisión sobre la producción de Xul Solar (1912- 1924), incorporando aportes de las distintas corrientes que componen el campo heterogéneo de la llamada ciencia de la imagen. El desarrollo parte de la premisa de ubicar a la imagen técnica en el centro del análisis —sus usos, manipulaciones, reformulaciones de las imágenes extrartísticas en la obra de artistas modernos relevantes—, para esbozar las complejas movilidades entre los campos artísticos y científicos a principio del siglo xx. Para ello se dispone una metodología cercana a la iconografía crítica y se privilegia la recuperación de una mirada técnica moderna y de estrategias de montaje que se expresan en los dos paneles que corren paralelos al texto.

The article proposes a review of the production of Xul Solar (1912-1924), incorporating contributions from the different currents that make up the heterogeneous field of the so-called science of the image. The development starts from the premise of placing the technical image at the center of the analysis —its uses, manipulations, reformulations of extra-artistic images in the work of relevant modern artists—, to outline the complex mobilities between the artistic and scientific fields at the beginning of the 20th century. For this, a methodology close to critical iconography is available and the recovery of a modern technical look and assembly strategies that are expressed in the two panels that run parallel to the text are privileged.
