Condiciones habitacionales en perspectiva regional: Jujuy en la primera mitad del siglo XX

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza las condiciones habitacionales de la provincia de Jujuy en la primera mitad del siglo XX. El tema de la vivienda ha sido explorado ampliamente por vastos estudios que centraron su observación sobre todo en las grandes ciudades del Litoral, especialmente Buenos Aires. En consecuencia, poco se sabe acerca de las características habitacionales durante aquel período en otras regiones, tales como el Noroeste. Con el propósito de complementar este vacío, a partir del examen fundamentalmente de fuentes censales, este estudio pretende rescatar la experiencia jujeña a la vez que confrontarla con las realidades que presentaban otras provincias, principalmente aquellas vecinas. Los resultados obtenidos buscarán igualmente ser articulados dentro de aquel conocimiento a nivel nacional y, cuando ello sea posible, también discutidos.

This paper analyzes the housing conditions of the province of Jujuy in the first half of the twentieth century. The housing issue has been widely explored by extensive studies that focused their comments on the major cities of the center of the country, especially Buenos Aires. Consequently, little is known about the characteristics of housing during that period in other regions, such as the Northwest. In order to complement this gap, primarily based on review of census data, this study tries to rescue Jujuy ́s experience and also to confront it with the realities that other provinces had, especially those close to it. The results also seek to be articulated at that national level knowledge and, where possible, also be discussed.
