Canonizaciones y Moralidades en Contextos de Pobreza Urbana: Las Lógicas del Orden y la Transgresión en la Argentina de Fines del Siglo XX

Abstract

Desde mediados de los años setenta y hasta el primer lustro del siglo XXI la argentina sufrió una profunda transformación en su estructura social, particularmente en los niveles y tipos de pobreza urbana. Las transformaciones del campo religioso acompañaron esos cambios, no como una respuesta mecánica a ellos, sino como reelaboraciones de sentido a partir de los cuales los sectores más afectados por la crisis buscaban resituarse frente a ella. Este trabajo compara el crecimiento de los ministerios pentecostales ocurridos al principio del proceso con la mayor presencia de devociones populares, sobre todo de jóvenes en conflicto con la ley, durante los años finales de este proceso justamente como puntos extremos de esas reelaboraciones de los sistemas de creencias de los sectores sociales más postergados.

As of the mid nineteen seventies and until the first years of the XXI century the argentine social structure suffered a particularly profound transformation, especially in the levels and types of poverty. Changes in the religious field accompanied those transformations, not as a mechanical response to them, but as the ways in which the most affected sectors tried to resituate themselves in front of the crisis. In this article we compare the growth of Pentecostal ministries occurred at the beginning of the process with the expanded presence of certain popular devotions –especially towards young persons in conflict with the law killed by the police— that happened during the final years of this process as the more extreme poles of the transformations occurred in the belief systems of the less well off.
