El Mundo según el Gap: La Historieta como Filosofía del Arte

Abstract

A través de la exploración de la historieta como factor constituyente de la cultura pop podemos sugerir que debajo de la trama invisibilizada y cotidiana de la cultura de masas existe un campo de batalla constante entre la imposición capitalista del deseo de consumo y el sentido dado a lo consumido por un lado; y por otro la inevitable resignificación y reapropiación que las masas hacen de esos productos. La capacidad subversiva de esa reapropiación sería ejercida en acciones a menudo involuntarias e inconscientes, las cuales al ganar densidad histórica se presentarían como nuevos indicadores materiales del giro posthistórico de finales del siglo XX y de las formas de vida posibles que podrían germinar al interior del proceso.

Through the exploration of comics as a constituent factor of pop culture we can suggest that within the invisibilized and daily fabric of mass culture there exists a constant battle between the imposition of the desire to consume as well as the meaning of what is being consumed on one side; and the inevitable reassignment and reappropriation of those very products consumed by the masses, on the other. The subversive potential in such reappropriation would be exercised through often involuntary and unconscious actions, that when fueled by enough historic density could be considered as a material indicator for the late 20th century posthistorical turn and the possible ways of living that might originate from within such a process.
