El Ejército argentino frente los juicios por crímenes de lesa humanidad

Abstract

Miles de oficiales de las fuerzas armadas y deseguridad implicados en violaciones a los de-rechos humanos durante la ultima dictaduraestén siendo condenados o procesados por lajusticia federal. Este un hecho inédito tieneconsecuencias políticas y culturales que aúntienen que ser comprendidas y analizadas.Para entender cómo este nuevo escenario dela memoria repercute en el Ejército Argenti-no, el presente artículo se propone dar cuen-ta de las tensiones y conflictos que afectan asus miembros, esto es, oficiales en actividady en situación de retiro, autoridades del ejér-cito y familiares y amigos de oficiales asesina-dos por organizaciones armadas durante ladécada del 70’. Este reconocimiento diferen-ciado de las memorias castrenses sobre la re-presión permitirá no sólo dar cuenta de susdesplazamientos y conflictos sino tambiénidentificar de manera cierta cuáles son lascontinuidades y repeticiones que son partede una cultura institucional, que si bien vivede la reproducción de sus valores, tradicio-nes y rituales, está también atravesada por elposicionamiento respecto de lo actuado enel pasado reciente.

Thousands of military officers involved inhuman rights violations during the lastdictatorship are being judged by federalcourts. Undoubtedly, this unprecedentedevent has political and cultural consequencesthat need to be understood and analyzed. Inorder to understand the impact made by thisnew memory scene on the argentine army,this paper aims at giving an account of thetensions and conflicts that affect its members:working and retired officers, army authorities,and relatives and friends of military officerskilled by the guerrilla in the 70s. This willallow not only to show the way the militaryofficers’ memory of the repression has shiftedand become contradictory, but also to identifyaccurately the continuities and repetitionswhich form part of the institutional culture,which, although it lives on the reproductionof its values, traditions and rituals, it ischallenged by its position about the way itbehaved in the recent past.
