Resumen
Future GHG emissions from agricultural systems will largely depend on landuse and management, livestock management, and management of supply chainsfor agricultural commodities. Accurate estimation of GHG emissions inregional inventories is needed to monitor and track progress in reducing theanthropogenic impact of agriculture on the climate system. Bottom-up inventoriesprovide the basis for monitoring GHG emissions at regional scales, and may be based on measurements, modeling, or some combination of thetwo methods (Ogle et al., 2019; Paustian et al., 2006). Inventories may beimproved with more complete datasets on management practices, in additionto improved models with a better understanding of the processes driving emissionsthat are developed with more rigorous parameterization methods. In addition,top-down inversion modeling may be used to verify GHG emissions atregional scales where agriculture is the dominant land use influencing emissions(Henne et al., 2016; Nevison et al., 2018; Ogle et al., 2015), and it couldpotentially provide a constraint on GHG inventories in the future.
