Arqueología Argentina: Una lectura arqueológica de su devenir histórico

Abstract

En este trabajo se expone un resumen de casi cinco siglos de historia de la arqueología argentina. El análisis se realizó partiendo desde el actual panorama disciplinar, para posteriormente buscar en el pasado las raíces de conceptos y herramientas teórico-metodológicas que hoy se emplean. Para dicho estudio se han considerando diversas variables (otras historiografías, publicaciones periódicas, actas de eventos vinculados a la disciplina, la prensa, etc.). Se destaca el actual panorama multi-teórico, y cómo, para llegar al mismo, se atravesó por el post-procesualismo y procesualismo con sus variantes en ambos casos, las corrientes histórico-culturales norteamericanas y europeas (y sus diferencias), las que sobrevaluaron la documentación escrita, las posturas evolucionistas y el coleccionismo, viendo finalmente en dichos enfoques sus alcances y limitaciones.

A summary of almost five centuries of Argentine archaeology history are described in this paper. The analysis starts from the current discipline outlook to subsequently find in the past the roots of concepts and methodological tools that are used nowadays. We have considered different features (other historiographies, periodicals, records related to the discipline, press, etc.). We highlight the current multi theoretical outlook and to do so we go through the post-procesualism and procesualism, the European and Northamerican historical and cultural trends (and their differences), the ones that over-valued the written documentation, the evolutionary stances and the collectionism, appreciating their scopes and limitations.
