Polylactic and polyglycolic Acids (PLGA) are a synthetic copolymer indicated for filling bone defects from different etiology, like prevent alveolar ridge resorption. Objective: To evaluate bone osteopromotion in human alveolar sockets at three months post implantation by PLGA (Fisiograft) in order to prevent alveolar ridge resorption. Methods: It was selected 20 post-extraction human alveolar sockets indicated for titanium implantation. The samples were divided in two groups: Control (CG): 7 alveoli, without any graft. Experimental (EG): 13 alveoli, filled by Fisiograft. After three months, trephine-harvested cylindrical shaft of tissue was extracted by biopsy (2 mm diameter x 10mm length). Samples were submitted to routine histological procedure. Results: CG: Bone 44% (SD 20), bone marrow 8% (SD 4), fibrous tissue 35% (SD 53), EG: Bone 60% SD14, bone marrow 20% (SD 25), fibrous tissue 2% (SD 6), material 5% (SD 6). The date analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences in bone (p=0.047) and fibrous tissue (p=0,007). Conclusion: PLGA showed biocompatibility, bone conductivity and bone promotion as well as prevented alveolar ridge resorption, persisting after three months.
