dc.description.abstract
This chapter aims to return to the epistemological revision proposed by Latin American feminism and the emergence of new ways of constructing knowledge from the South. The chapter will assess the participation of women in the field of IR who set out to build a theoretical framework often contributing disjunctions to the hegemonic patriarchal views, but also to hegemonic perspectives inside feminism. Since the irruption of Latin American feminisms, mechanisms of domination were visualized differently, old issues were contextualized and new issues were introduced but were largely ignored or relegated. This conceptual or political myopia prevented taking into account actors of international system that are not part of the hegemonic community and deprived of voice and access to rights. The chapter will review the premises on which Latin American feminisms were built in Latin America, unearthing the ideas of early thinkers and assessing their epistemic contributions to a GIR project.
