El delta de la Cuenca del Plata en la literatura argentina especulativa: un diálogo entre los siglos XIX y XXI

Abstract

A diferencia del “desierto”, el espacio de los ríos del delta de la cuenca del Plata y sus islas conformó en el siglo XIX un cronotopo de signo positivo que inspiró la primera literatura especulativa nacional. En cambio, la narrativa especulativa del siglo XXI vuelve sobre esta región con cierta recurrencia para desplegar una configuración distópica de ese mismo espacio, a través del cual se revisan, discuten y deconstruyen los grandes tópicos decimonónicos como las ideas de progreso, de civilización, de barbarie, de positivismo, de Estado, entre otras. Abordaremos las novelas El Rey del Agua (2016) y El ojo y la flor (2019), de Claudia Aboaf ―que son las dos últimas novelas de la trilogía que inició con Pichonas en 2014―, y la narrativa de Marcelo Cohen que configura el Delta Panorámico, sobre todo su novela Gongue (2012), con el objeto de identificar los tópicos decimonónicos que se recuperan en ellas y analizar su tratamiento dentro del marco que ofrece el corpus de obras que denominamos y definimos en trabajos anteriores como nueva narrativa argentina especulativa.

Unlike the “desert”, the space of the rivers of the delta of Río de la Plata and its islands formed in the nineteenth century a chronotope of positive sign that inspired the first national speculative literature. On the other hand, the speculative narrative of the XXI century returns to this region with a certain recurrence to deploy a dystopian configuration of that same space, through which the great nineteenth-century topics such as the ideas of progress, civilization, barbarism, positivism, the State, among others, are reviewed, discussed and deconstructed. We will address the novels El Rey del Agua (2016) and El ojo y la flor (2019), by Claudia Aboaf, ―which are the last two novels of the trilogy that began with Pichonas in 2014― and the narrative of Marcelo Cohen that configures the Panoramic Delta, especially his novel Gongue (2012), in order to identify the nineteenth-century topics that are recovered in them and analyze their treatment within the framework offered by the corpus of works that we called and defined in previous works as a new speculative Argentine narrative.
