Género y transformaciones al interior del hogar en la posmigración: Mujeres y varones peruanos en Buenos Aires

Abstract

Poniendo atención en las mujeres y varones peruanos llegados al Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires en los años noventa y comienzos de la década de dos mil, el objetivo de este documento es describir los cambios operados entre la pre y la posmigración en la figura “jefe/a de hogar”, la condición de sostén económico del hogar, las jerarquías decisorias al interior del hogar y el tiempo dedicado a las tareas domésticas. Se realiza un abordaje intermetodológico, ya que se analiza tanto información cualitativa como cuantitativa, derivadas de fuentes especialmente diseñadas para el estudio. Los hallazgos permiten mostrar la importancia de la migración como factor de cambio en las relaciones de género, así como profundizar en el carácter estructurante del sistema de género, evidenciado en los mecanismos homeostáticos de la distribución sexual de las oportunidades.

There is great interest to describe and to ex-plain the changes in the status and gender rela-tionships after the migration. This article looks for to add information to this line, putting at-tention in the Peruvians arrived to Buenos Ai-res Metropolitan Area in the last fifteen years. The objective is to describe changes in the head of household, the home provider, the taking of decisions and the time dedicated to the domes-tic tasks. In this article puts special attention in those who emigrated in their adulthood, but it is also included the youths. Qualitative and quantitative information is used. It is shown the importance of the migration as factor of change in gender relationships, as well as the structural character of the gender system and their ho-meostatics mechanisms.
