Efectos de la justificación del sistema de género y la orientación a la dominancia social en las actitudes hacia el feminismo

Abstract

En Argentina como en otras partes del mundo, la reivindicación de movimientos feministas no ha sido históricamente bien vista y ha dado lugar al surgimiento de posiciones contrarias al avance de las mujeres en diferentes esferas de la vida social. Desde una perspectiva psicológica, las actitudes negativas hacia el feminismo, han sido estudiadas a partir de la orientación a la dominancia social, como una tendencia a derogar a los grupos percibidos como competitivos basándose en la intención de mantener la jerarquía intergrupal. Además, la justificación del sistema de género, que refleja el grado en que los individuos se sienten motivados para defender la supuesta imparcialidad del sistema de género actual y para justificar la desigualdad de género, se observó que disminuye el apoyo a protestas que desafían dicho sistema. El objetivo principal del estudio fue analizar el aporte diferencial de la orientación a la dominancia social y la justificación del sistema de género, en las actitudes hacia el feminismo. Participaron del estudio 428 adultos de Buenos Aires. Los resultados principales indican un mayor aporte de la justificación del sistema de género para la comprensión de las actitudes negativas hacia el feminismo. Se discuten alcances y límites de los resultados hallados.

In Argentina as in other parts of the world, the demand for feminist movements has not been historically well regarded and has led to the emergence of positions contrary to the advancement of women in different spheres of social life. From a psychological perspective, negative attitudes towards feminism have been studied from the social dominance orientation, as a tendency to repeal groups perceived as competitive based on the intention to maintain the intergroup hierarchy. In addition, gender system justification, which reflects the degree to which individuals feel motivated to defend the supposed impartiality of the current gender system and to justify gender inequality, was observed to diminish support for protests that challenge the system. The main objective of the study was to analyze the differential contribution of the social dominance orientation and the gender system justification in attitudes towards feminism. 428 adults from Buenos Aires participated in the study. The main results indicate a greater contribution of the gender system justification for the understanding of negative attitudes towards feminism. The scope and limits of the results found are discussed.
