Ciencia imperial, verdad y teología en Sir Francis Bacon: Escritos críticos sobre la temprana modernidad occidental

Abstract

Se trata de una compilación de textos escritos por algunos de los integrantes del “Grupo de Estudios Críticos sobre la Modernidad Temprana Occidental”. El Grupo, organizado en torno a un Proyecto de Reconocimiento y un PIP, se reúne quincenalmente los días martes en el Instituto Germani con el objetivo de analizar textos de pensadores y comentadores del período que va desde las Reformas Protestantes a la Revolución Francesa, con un interés central en la teoría política y jurídica. Los artículos aquí reunidos se producen luego de la lectura conjunta de la obra de Sir Francis Bacon e intentan analizar la irrupción del paradigma científico-técnico y su fundamentación teológico-política, desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar, aunque con preguntas formuladas con los bagajes actuales de las Ciencias Sociales. Se abordan específicamente los temas siguientes: la recepción frankfurtiana de Bacon; la relación entre la nueva ciencia y la configuración de modales asociados a la civilidad en la figura de los nuevos científicos; el utopismo de Bacon; el problema del continuo y la crítica metodológica que puede hacerse a esa concepción y la contraposición entre verdad y opinión, desde la perspectiva de la teoría política.

We present here a compilation of texts written by some of the members of the “Group of Critical Studies on the Early Western Modernity”. The Group, organized as a Project of Recognition and a PIP, hold meetings every two weeks on Tuesdays in the Institute Germani and pursues to analyze texts of thinkers and scholars about the period which comprehends the time between the Reform and the French Revolution, with special interest on the Political and Juridical Theory. The articles here presented were produced after the conjoint reading of Sir Francis Bacon’s work. We intend to analyze the assumption of the paradigm scientist - technician and its theological - political foundations, from a multidisciplinary perspective, though with questions formulated with the current conceptual staff of the Social Sciences. The following subjects are specially focused: the frankfurtian reception of Bacon; the relationship between the new science and the construction of manners appropriated to the new figure of scientist; the problem of continuity and its methodological critique, and the opposition of truth and opinion, from the perspective of the Political Theory.
