Volver a Park. La ciudad: un texto, muchas historias

Abstract

La presente comunicación propone una aproximación al contexto de producción y de reedición del texto The City: suggestions for the investigation of human behavior in the city/urban environment de Robert Ezra Park. Por medio de este ejercicio, y tomando en consideración fuentes secundarias, se indagará en torno a los principales argumentos defendidos por el autor en la versión primigenia del artículo, las motivaciones que lo impulsaron a realizar cambios en su edición de 1925, la operación que -en las décadas de 1950, 1960 y 1970- condujeron a la creación de sucesivas versiones de la “escuela de Chicago” y finalmente la postura defendida por Martínez en el prólogo de la primera versión en español del trabajo en cuestión.

The present communication proposes an approach to the context of production and reissue of the work The City: suggestions for the investigation of human behavior in the city / urban environment of Robert Ezra Park. Through this exercise, and taking secondary sources into consideration, we will investigate the main arguments defended by the author in the original version of the article, the motivations that prompted him to make changes in his 1925 edition, the operation that -in the decades of 1950, 1960 and 1970- led to the creation of successive versions of the "Chicago School" and finally the position defended by Martinez in the prologue of the first Spanish version of the text in question.
