dc.description.abstract
The advances in technology have led not only to the appearance of high-powered computational tools but also to the possibility of approaching new engineering problems, increasing the precision and optimization of solutions. Therefore, those mathematical modeling techniques adapt and evolve incorporating new concepts. This book gives a review of many types of models to face the main actually problems in the engineering field. In this context an attempt is made to consider the importance of adequate knowledge of the nature of the problems to be addressed when implementing a correct model, in particular the models that contemplate the physical explanation of the phenomena. The authors try to introduce the reader to the approach of the problems using new and growing modeling techniques in recent years, such as artificial intelligence tools. Regarding deterministic models, a detailed approach to solve the problem to efficiently operate an electric system is presented, and also another model that attends to one of the most recent problems that arouse interest at the global level. The problem handles the operations of factories in front of a pandemic situation as the COVID-19 disease.
