Presencia y usos de Facebook en las bibliotecas populares de La Plata, Berisso y Ensenada (Argentina)

Abstract

En el artículo se analiza el uso de la red social Facebook por parte de bibliotecas populares de La Plata, Berisso y Ensenada (Argentina). Se realiza una revisión bibliográfica, se expone el procedimiento metodológico utilizado en la identificación de estas instituciones, la constatación del empleo de esta red social y los usos que cada una hace de la herramienta en cuestión, a partir de variables como: cantidad de seguidores, cantidad y tipos de publicaciones, características de la interacción con el entorno, entre otras. En los resultados se efectúa un análisis, de tipo cuantitativo, de las variables establecidas, destacándose un caso atípico por la cantidad de seguidores, posteos e interacción con la comunidad. En las conclusiones se destaca el arribo tardío de estas bibliotecas a Facebook, lo que las ubica en un periodo de aprendizaje.

This paper analyzes the uses of the social network Facebook by popular libraries in La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada (Argentine). After a bibliographic review on the subject, we expose the methodological procedures employed to identify which institutions have an account on this social network and then the main uses they make of the tool in question. The uses by the libraries are analyzed according to several variables: The number of followers, the frequency and type of posts, and finally, the quantity and quality of the comments, the characteristics of the interaction with the environment, among others. In the results, a quantitative analysis of the established variables, shows an atypical case, who presents higher number of followers, greater frequency and number of postings and more interaction with the members of its community. The conclusion shows the late arrival of these libraries to Facebook, which places them in a learning period.
