Resistencia, capital del Norte Argentino: imágenes, estéticas y alteridades de una nueva política urbana

Abstract

El trabajo reflexiona sobre imágenes y significaciones estéticas en torno a la implementación de una nueva política urbana en la ciudad de Resistencia. Se exponen tres objetivos a partir de la perspectiva teórica de Walter Benjamin sobre la noción de embellecimiento estratégico y abordajes socio-semióticos referidos a imaginarios culturales de Resistencia y del Nordeste Argentino. En primer término, se aborda la preocupación municipal por la estética institucional y se la vincula a las apuestas por políticas de turismo. Luego, se relaciona una imagen del nuevo intendente “trabajando” junto a otros obreros en la calle con las narrativas estéticas y los discursos culturales que enmarcan la provincialización de Chaco, más específicamente, aquellos vinculados al embellecimiento urbano y a proyectos de modernización. Por último, se analizan las significaciones estéticas vinculadas a las políticas de conmemoración municipal particularizando en el 138º aniversario de la fundación de la ciudad de Resistencia. Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre las relaciones de la nueva política estética municipal con el turismo, el espectáculo político, las alterizaciones y la continuidad de valores dominantes de la hegemonía cultural de la ciudad.

The work analyzes the images and aesthetic meanings around the implementation of a new urban policy in the city of Resistencia. Considering the theoretical perspective of Walter Benjamin on the notion of strategic beautification and socio-cultural semiotic, three issues are discussed in relation to the cultural imaginaries of Resistencia and Northeast Argentina. First, we deal with the municipal concern about the institutional aesthetics, which is linked to investment in tourism policies. Next, we work on the relationship between the image of the new mayor as “working” side by side any other worker on the street, and the aesthetic narratives and the cultural discourse that frame the provincialization of Chaco, more specifically, those related to urban beautification and modernization projects. We also analyze the aesthetic meanings linked to the commemoration policies of the of the 138th anniversary of the founding of the city of Resistencia. Finally, we analyze the relationships between the new municipal aesthetic tourism policy and the political show, the otherness processes and the continuity of dominant values of the cultural hegemony in the city.
