Tecnología, artificialidad y hábitat: Teoría Crítica de la Tecnología y su aplicabilidad al estudio del hábitat en tanto objeto tecnológico

Abstract

Se expone una teoría comprehensiva de la tecnología y la artificialidad, señalando, hacia final del artículo, implicaciones para la consideración del hábitat humano. Las tecnologías serán comprendidas como creaciones/construcciones humanas, manifestaciones de artificialidad con corporeidad procedente de la naturaleza, emergentes en el marco de relaciones sociales particulares en un tiempo-espacio específicos. La intencionalidad de esa creación/construcción resulta clave no sólo porque implica consciencia, sino, porque involucra la cristalización en el cuerpo de las tecnologías (y en los diseños del hábitat en tanto creación/construcción) de intereses y valores de los sujetos creadores (aspectos conscientes) que no les son totalmente propios (aspectos inconscientes) y que han sido adoptados por estar históricamente situados. En el capitalismo, la pertenencia a una clase social dada y las identificaciones personales (desarrolladas a lo largo de la vida y cuya contraparte será la objetivación en códigos técnicos) serán dos aspectos de fundamental importancia en las posibilidades del diseño, limitando la contingencia. Finalmente, se expone que el hábitat puede ser considerado un elemento componente del universo tecnológico, exponiendo brevemente el caso de las viviendas earthships desarrolladas por Michael Reynolds.

The paper presents a comprehensive theory of technology and artiiciality, pointing out implications for the consideration of human habitat at the end of the paper. Technologies will be understood as human creations/constructions, manifestations of artiiciality emerging within the framework of particular social relations in a speciic time-space. The intentions behind this creation/construction are key not only because they imply consciousness, but because they involve the crystallization in the bodies of technologies (and in habitat designs as creation/construction) of interests and values of the subjects creating technologies (conscious aspects) that are not fully belonging to them (unconscious aspects) and that have been adopted because of the historical situatedness of these subjects. In capitalist society both belonging to a given social class and personal selfidentiications (developed throughout life resulting in its objectiication in technical codes) are two aspects of fundamental importance for analyzing the possibilities of design, limiting the contingency. Finally, the paper exposes that the habitat can be considered a component element of the technological universe, exposing briely the case of the ‘earthships’ dwellings developed by Michael Reynolds.
