Construcción y evolución de un teatro político: la obra de Mauricio Kartun en perspectiva (1970-2015)

Abstract

Establecer una periodización de la obra dramática de Mauricio Kartun (San Martín, Pcia. de Bs. As., 1946) que segmente la totalidad de su producción en diversas fases, nos permite abordar la noción de teatro político, alejándonos del maniqueísmo tradicional que entiende lo político exclusivamente como panfletario. La producción kartuniana sirve como puntapié para discutir la complejidad de las relaciones entre arte y política, y formular la hipótesis de un autor que a lo largo de toda su carrera produce un tipo de teatro eminentemente político, con una “visión de mundo” que permanece inalterable, a pesar de la metamorfosis procedimental que implica la evolución de su teatro; desde la juvenil, utópica y, de alguna manera, inocente primera etapa hasta la profundidad creativa de su período de madurez, que incluye la dirección de sus propios textos, lo que, a nuestro entender, significa un cambio de relevancia en su concepción del fenómeno teatral.

To establish a periodization of Mauricio Kartun´s dramatic work (San Martín, Province of Bs. As., 1946) that segregates the totality of his production in different phases, allowing us to approach the notion of political theater, moving away from the traditional maniqueism that understands the political exclusively as a pamphleteer. The Kartunian production serves as a kick-off to discuss the complexity of the relations between art and politics, and formulate the hypothesis of an author who throughout his career, produces a type of eminently political theater with a "vision of the world" that remains unalterable, in spite of the procedural metamorphosis that the evolution of its theater implies; From the juvenile, utopian and, somehow, innocent first stage to the creative depth of his maturity period, which includes the direction of his own texts, which, in our opinion, signifies a change of relevance in his conception of the theatrical phenomenon.
