La escatología personal en Filón de Alejandría: inmortalidad y destino del alma

Abstract

El propósito del artículo es analizar en los textos de Filón de Alejandría sus concepciones acerca de la escatología personal, i. e., el destino del alma individual tras la muerte. En la primera sección, indagaremos qué significa la inmortalidad que Filón atribuye como recompensa a las almas virtuosas. En la segunda parte, examinaremos el sentido del concepto de la muerte del alma e intentaremos dilucidar en qué consiste el castigo de las almas injustas e impías.

The purpose of the article is to analyze in the texts of Philo of Alexandria his conceptions about personal eschatology, i. e., the individual soul’s destiny after death. In the first section, we will inquire into the meaning of the immortality that Philo attributes to virtuous souls. In the second part, we will examine the sense of the concept of death of the soul and we will try to elucidate what is the punishment for unjust and impious souls.
