¿Más derechos implican más libertad?: Algunas reflexiones a partir del aumento de la violencia y los femicidios en la Argentina

Abstract

Por primera vez en la historia de la República Argentina, una mujer fue elegida y reelegida democráticamente para ejercer la presidencia del país durante 8 años (2007-2015). Una mujer es, por primera vez también, la gobernadora de la provincia de Buenos Aires, el distrito más poblado del país. El marco normativo argentino también presenta una imagen alentadora para la situación de las mujeres, a partir de importantes leyes que se han sancionado en los últimos años, entre las que podríamos mencionar la ley de matrimonio igualitario, la ley de identidad de género, la ley de educación sexual integral o la ley de paridad de género en las listas electorales. Sin embargo, esta realidad convive con uno de los momentos de mayor violencia hacia las mujeres en la sociedad argentina. El pasado año se perpetró un femicidio por día, marcando un trágico aumento de una estadística que en el 2016 arrojó una mujer asesinada cada 30 horas por el hecho de ser mujer. ¿Cómo leer e interpretar esta realidad? ¿Qué debemos sumar al análisis para desentrañar esta complejidad que parece no poder ser analizada en términos de igualdad de derechos, representación o figuras que hacen estallar barreras invisibles pero sedimentadas?.

For the first time in the history of Argentina, a woman was democratically elected and re-elected to hold the presidency of the country for 8 years (2007-2015). A woman is also, for the first time, the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, the most populated district of the country. The Argentine normative framework also presents an encouraging image for the situation of women, based on important laws that have been sanctioned in recent years, among which we could mention the law of equal marriage, the law of gender identity, the law of sexual education or the gender parity law in the electoral lists. However, this reality coexists with one of the moments of greatest violence against women in Argentine society. Last year a femicide was perpetrated per day, marking a tragic increase in statistics that in 2016 yielded a woman killed every 30 hours for being a woman. How to read and interpret this reality? What should we add to the analysis to unravel this complexity that seems to be unable to be analyzed in terms of equality of rights, representation or figures that explode invisible but sedimented barriers?.
