Una correlación peculiar en el dístico elegíaco en Solón, Jenófanes y Meleagro

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar una correlación hasta ahora desconocida entre la cantidad de la sílaba final del hexámetro elegíaco y la del pentámetro que se observa en tres poetas, Solón, Jenófanes y Meleagro. El autor se propone una meta doble: por un lado, demostrar que la indiferencia de esa sílaba en el metro no implicaba la indistinción entre finales largos y finales breves y, por el otro, mostrar que existía una influencia rítmica mutua entre los versos que componen el dístico elegíaco. Para ello, después de una serie de consideraciones metodológicas se antepone al estudio central un análisis de una correlación interna al hexámetro elegíaco entre la cesura del tercer pie y la cantidad de la sílaba final. Los resultados finales corroboran la hipótesis que se ofrece al comienzo e implican que es necesario reconsiderar ciertos axiomas metodológicos establecidos en el análisis de la poesía griega antigua.

The goal of this paper is to present a previously unknown correlation between the quantity of the final syllable of the elegiac hexameter and that of the pentameter, observed in three poets, Solon, Xenophanes and Meleager. The author has two objectives: on the one hand, to demonstrate that the indifference of that syllable in the meter did not imply an inability to differentiate between heavy and light endings and, on the other hand, to show that there was a mutual rhythmic influence between the verses that compose the elegiac couplet. In order to do this, after a series of methodological considerations and before the main study, he provides an analysis of a correlation internal to the elegiac hexameter between the third foot caesura and the quantity of the final syllable. The final results corroborate the hypothesis offered at the beginning and imply that it is necessary to reconsider certain established methodological axioms in the analysis of ancient Greek poetry.
