"De esto mejor ni hablar": Omisiones y reformulaciones de lo sagrado por parte de terapeutas alternativos que trabajan en contextos hospitalarios

Abstract

En este trabajo, nuestro interés se centra en el análisis de las prácticas terapéuticas alternativas en contextos hospitalarios de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Sobre la base de materiales originales provenientes de entrevistas semi-dirigidas a reflexólogos y reikistas que se desempeñan como voluntarios en distintas instituciones, se analizan los modos en que los especialistas alternativos gestionan la dimensión de lo religioso/sagrado en sus saberes y prácticas, como parte de una estrategia general tendiente a resolver conflictos emergentes y/o potenciales con el campo de la medicina oficial. Nos interesa reflexionar acerca de los alcances y límites del tratamiento alternativo en el hospital, partiendo de dos categorías centrales al discurso alternativo, como son las de holismo y energía; los modos en que éstas son enfatizadas o invisibilizadas en las prácticas y discursos y el impacto que estas restricciones tienen en el proceso terapéutico y la definición del rol de los especialistas al interior del hospital.

In this work, our interest is focused on the analysis of alternative therapeutic practices in hospital settings of the City of Buenos Aires (Argentina). Based on original materials from interviews semi-directed to reflexologists and reikists who work as volunteers in the institution, we analyze the ways in which alternative specialists manage the dimension of religious/sacred in their knowledge and practices, as part of a general strategy tending to solve emerging and/or potential conflicts with the field of meanings of official medicine. In this sense, we are interested in reflecting on the scope and limits of alternative treatment in the hospital, starting from two central categories to alternative discourse, such as those of holism and energy. We are focusing on how these notions are emphasized or made invisible in practices and discourses and the impact that these restrictions have on the therapeutic process and the definition of the role of specialists within the hospital.
