Del «Año del Libertador» a la «Campaña Echeverría»: Las figuras de Carlos Astrada y Héctor P. Agosti en la disputa por la historia nacional

Abstract

La primera parte del presente trabajo busca brindar una visión panorámica de algunos tópicos que el peronismo puso en juego a la hora de forjar su tradición. Correlativamente, se ofrecerá también una somera presentación del modo en que ese fenómeno político fue representado desde la oposición. Se pondrá especial énfasis en las campañas que se llevaron a cabo teniendo como punto nodal las figuras del libertador San Martín (1950) y Esteban Echeverría (1951), oficialista y opositora respectivamente, que proporcionaron temas y tópicos que permitían re-situar el presente en una línea histórica que conectaba con el pasado nacional. En la segunda parte, la apropiación de la figura de Esteban Echeverría permitirá introducir a dos autores, Carlos Astrada (1894-1970) y Héctor Agosti (1911-1984), para quienes tematizar al pensador y poeta romántico respondía a trayectorias personales, a un tiempo que pueden leerse como una contribución a las opciones políticas en que ambos se encolumnaban: peronismo y comunismo. Así, mientras la voz astradiana será una de las pocas que desde el oficialismo se había alzado para intentar recuperar la figura de Echeverría, Agosti la utilizará para intentar renovar la tradición política comunista local, demasiado deudora de los dictámenes de la URSS. El trabajo cierra con una serie de consideraciones en torno al derrotero intelectual de ambos pensadores tras el golpe de estado que destituyó a Perón en 1955.

The first part of this paper seeks to provide a panoramic view of a few topics of the Peronist tradition and the way in which some of the representations of this political phenomenon were constructed by the opposition. Special emphasis will be placed on the campaigns carried out around the figures of San Martín (1950) and Esteban Echeverría (1951), official and opposition respectively, which provided topics that allowed to reposition the present in a historic line that connected with the national past. In the second part, the appropriation of the figure of Esteban Echeverría will allow to introduce two authors, Carlos Astrada (1894-1970) and Héctor Agosti (1911-1984), for whom the appropiation of the thinker and romantic poet responded to personal trajectories, and at the same time can be read as a contribution to the political options they adscribed to: Peronism and communism. Thus, while the Astradian voice will be one of the few that had risen to recover the figure of Echeverria for the officialism, Agosti will use it to try to renew the local communist political tradition, too indebted to the dictates of the USSR. The work closes with a few considerations around the intellectual course of both thinkers after the coup d’état that ousted Perón in 1955.
