Sentidos en disputa: la problemática de los "niños desaparecidos" durante la transición democrática argentina (1982-1984)

Abstract

En el presente artículo nos proponemos analizar las variaciones que adoptaron las representaciones sobre los “niños desaparecidos” durante los primeros años de la transición a la democracia en la Argentina (1982-1984), un periodo que estuvo caracterizado por la incertidumbre política y la fuerte disputa por la construcción de sentidos en torno a los legados de la dictadura militar saliente. Por un lado, analizaremos los cambios y continuidades en el discurso público de Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, el organismo de derechos humanos específicamente abocado a la búsqueda de los “niños desaparecidos”. Al mismo tiempo, rastrearemos la presencia de otros discursos y representaciones sobre esta problemática que rechazaban o tensionaban el relato de la organización e indagaremos cómo esta confrontación contribuyó a redefinir su discurso, incorporando conceptos y saberes provenientes de diferentes disciplinas. Observaremos, por último, el papel del informe final de la CONADEP (el Nunca Más) en la legitimación del discurso y del reclamo de Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, en el marco de la constitución de un nuevo “régimen de memoria” sobre el traumático pasado dictatorial.

In this paper we analyze the variations adopted by the representations about the "disappeared children" during the first years of the democratic transition in Argentina (1982-1984), a period characterized by political uncertainty and a strong dispute for the construction of meanings around the legacies of the outgoing military dictatorship. In a first place, we will analyze the changes and continuities in the public discourse of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, the human rights organization specifically dedicated to the search of the "disappeared children". At the same time, we will track the presence of other discourses and representations about this issue that rejected or stressed the organization’s speech. We will inquire how this confrontation helped to redefine its own discourse, incorporating concepts and knowledge from different disciplines. Finally, we will observe the role of the final report of the CONADEP (the Nunca Más) in the legitimation of the discours and the claim of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, within the framework of the constitution of a new "memory regime" about the traumatic dictatorial past.
