La clase terrateniente argentina y la disputa internacional por la renta de la tierra hacia principios del siglo XXI

Abstract

En este trabajo, nos proponemos estudiar la acción política en el plano internacional de la Sociedad Rural Argentina, en el contexto del desenvolvimiento de la última ronda de negociaciones de la Organización Mundial de Comercio. De manera general, su acción se orienta a la formación de alianzas con otras asociaciones, con el objeto de determinar una posición política unificada y presentarla a los funcionarios de los gobiernos de turno, quienes llevan adelante las negociaciones. Al respecto, plantearemos que el contenido de dicha acción consiste en la disputa por una fracción de renta de la tierra, lo que determina que aquélla se ejerza en representación de la clase terrateniente. Y, dado el carácter específico de la acumulación de capital en la Argentina, esta acción es a la vez portadora del interés nacional. Sin embargo, el rol de la Argentina en la unidad mundial de la acumulación es el que nos pone frente a los límites de la acción.

In this paper, we aim to analyze the international political action of the Sociedad Rural Argentina, in the context of the unfolding of the last round of the World Trade Organization talks during the firsts years of this century. Overall, its action points to forming alliances with other associations, in order to determine a unified political position regarding the trade barriers to the import of Argentinian commodities and present it to the national representatives, which carry out the negotiations. In this regard, we will point out that the content of that action consists in the dispute for a fraction of the land rent, which determines that it is exercised on behalf of the landowning class. However, it is Argentina's role in the global unity of accumulation that shows us the limits of action.
