El papel de los páthe y la phantasía en la retórica aristotélica: Apuntes sobre la relación sinomopotética

Abstract

El presente escrito parte de la hipótesis de que la producción de imágenes representacionales, presentes en la comprensión profunda de la psicología aristotélica, opera como base fundamental en la Retórica: de qué modo el ser humano es capaz de apropiarse los fenómenos senso-representativos a través del uso estratégico del lenguaje. Para tal fin presenta, desde un enfoque filológico-hermenéutico, un panorama puntual de las indagaciones psicológicas aristotélicas esbozadas en ciertos pasajes de De anima y De motu animalium, particularmente los páthe y la phantasía. Tiene como objetivo dar cuenta de los mecanismos por los cuales un individuo puede ser afectado en su estado disposicional y representacional por medio de un discurso performativo (Retórica). En tal horizonte, entre las diversas facultades del alma (cfr. De anima 414b1 y ss.), se limita a exhibir un marco general de cómo se conectan ciertos ingredientes anímicos, por así decirlo, en los engranajes psíquicos y a partir de qué relaciones entre ellos se despiertan determinadas representaciones, juicios y posibles acciones. Se intenta pues presentar el vínculo existente entre la producción discursiva performativa, el suscitar determinado estado de ánimo por mediación de la phantasía y sus implicancias en el orden psíquico-práctico del ser humano.

This paper is based on the hypothesis that the production of representational images, which is present in the deep understanding of Aristotelian psychology, operates as a fundamental basis in the Rhetoric. For this purpose, I will present, from a philological-hermeneutic approach, a precise panorama of the Aristotelian psychological investigations sketched in certain passages of De anima and De motu animalium, particularly páthe and phantasía. My aim is to give an account of the mechanisms by which an individual can be affected in their dispositional and representational state by means of a performative discourse (Rhetoric). Given the various faculties of the soul (cfr. De anima 414b1ss.), I will show how certain psychic ingredients are connected, so to speak, in the psychic gears and from what kind of relationships between them certain representations, judgments and possible actions are awakened. I will intend to describe the liaison between the performative discursive production, the raising of a certain state of mind through the mediation of phantasía and its implications in the psychical-practical order of the human being.
