Aportes para una historia conceptual del socialismo en el espacio rioplatense (1837-1899)

Abstract

El presente texto se presenta como un primer aporte para una historia conceptual de los términos socialismo/socialista en el Río de la Plata durante el siglo XIX. Comienza definiendo su objeto a partir de un debate historiográfico; recoge, a continuación, los aportes consagrados a la historia conceptual de ambos términos en el ámbito europeo y traza, finalmente, un recorrido por la producción escrita rioplatense, buscando identificar sucesivas capas semánticas en un arco temporal que parte de sus primeros usos –cuando el concepto socialista hace su aparición en Buenos Aires en el año 1837– y concluye en la última década del siglo XIX –cuando se estableció y se receptaba localmente la acepción de socialismo científico propia de la Segunda Internacional–.

This paper is a first contribution to a conceptual history of the terms socialism/socialist in the area of La Plata River during the 19th century. It begins by defining its object based on the historiographical debate on the subject. After that, the paper takes into consideration the contributions of conceptual history on both terms in the European space. Finally, it outlines an itinerary around the written production in the area of La Plata River, seeking to identify the successive semantic layers of those concepts, within a temporal frame that starts with their first usages –when the concept socialist appeared in Buenos Aires, in the year 1837– and ends in the last decade of the 19th century –when the meaning of scientific socialism, according to the Second International, was locally established and receptioned–
