El deporte de Sordos: Combatir su incomprensión. Un espacio de juego y de lucha por el reconocimiento

Abstract

El deporte de Sordos, estructurado en base a las Sordolimpíadas, es uno de los patrimonios históricos y culturales más custodiados por las comunidades Sordas. Esta protección, desde miradas externas, ha sido objeto de malentendidos y de acusaciones de separatismo y autoexclusión. Combatiendo esta incomprensión deshumanizante, en este trabajo describo el mundo de significados construido a partir del deporte Sordo, recuperando la palabra de sus defensores. Para ello, primero, reconstruyo una serie de confusiones en relación con la asimilación del deporte Sordo al mundo del deporte paralímpico. Asimismo, contextualizo cómo, ante la irrupción del principio de inclusión, se establecieron en las últimas tres décadas reconfiguraciones en los juegos segregados por discapacidades que interpelaron la vigencia de las Sordolimpíadas. Segundo, partiendo de algunos problemas epistemológicos surgidos en una investigación cualitativa en curso, expongo la necesidad de romper con el etnocentrismo oyente para comprender el deporte Sordos y contemplarlo en la historia de resistencia de las comunidades Sordas. Tercero, sistematizando una serie de textos que rescatan este punto de vista, destaco los sentidos históricos y actuales que propician la vigencia del deporte Sordo. Los mismos se asocian principalmente a constituir un espacio de juego y de lucha por el reconocimiento de las comunidades Sordas.

The Deaf Sport, structured on the basis of the Deaflympics is one of the most guarded historical and cultural heritage by the Deaf communities. This protection, from external perspectives, has been subject to misunderstandings and accusations of separatism and self-exclusion. Fighting this dehumanizing misunderstanding, in this work he describes the world of meanings built from the Deaf Sport, recovering the word of his defenders. To do this, first, I reconstruct a series of confusions regarding the assimilation of the sport of the Deaf Sport to the world of Paralympic sport. Likewise, I contextualize how, before the irruption of the principle of inclusion, reconfigurations in games segregated by disabilities that challenged the validity of the Deaflympic were established in the last three decades. Second, starting from some surgical epistemological problems in an ongoing qualitative investigation, I expose the need to break with hearing ethnocentrism to understand the Deaf Sport and contemplate it in the history of resistance of Deaf communities. Third, systematizing a series of texts that rescue this point of view, reveal the historical and current senses that favor the validity of the Deaf Sport. They are mainly associated to constitute a space for play and struggle for the recognition of Deaf communities.
