La historiografía argentina y el cortometraje moderno local: un nuevo enfoque de aproximación

Abstract

El cortometraje fue un factor esencial para el impulso y el desarrollo del cine moderno argentino entre las décadas del cincuenta y del setenta. Sin embargo, la historia del cine nacional no ha profundizado en los rasgos específicos del corto y lo ha marginado a la posición de mero rito iniciático en la carrera del realizador. En este sentido, la propuesta de este artículo consiste en revisar, por un lado, diversas perspectivas canónicas sobre el corto nacional que focalizan en su función formativa y por el otro, diferentes investigaciones acerca del cine moderno donde el film breve no es incorporado como un eslabón decisivo. Luego, estos escritos serán confrontados con un nuevo punto de vista que certifique efectivamente el papel del corto en el proceso de modernización del cine argentino. El mismo se construye a partir de cuatro premisas: la pluralidad de funciones en torno al film de corta duración, las características estructurales del corto, la pervivencia del fenómeno en el período y la metodología del análisis textual.

The short ! lm was an essential factor for the impulse and development of Argentine modern cinema between the ! fties and the seventies. However, the history of the national cinema has not deepened in the speci! c features of the short ! lm and marginalized it to the position of mere initiatory rite in the director’s career. In this sense, the proposal of the article is to review, on the one hand, different canonical perspectives on the national short ! lm that focus on its formative function and on the other, different investigations about modern cinema where the short is not incorporated as a decisive link. Then, these papers will be confronted with a new point of view that effectively certi! es the role of the short ! lm in the process of modernization of Argentine cinema. It is built by four premises: the plurality of functions around the ! lm of short duration, the structural characteristics of the short, the survival of the phenomenon in the period and the methodology of textual analysis.
