Familias bolivianas en General Pueyrredon: migración, trabajo, dinero, y afecto

Abstract

En este artículo, a través de estrategias cualitativas, analizaremos los usos y los significados del dinero en familias de migrantes bolivianos que viven y trabajan en General Pueyrredon. Como han demostrado investigaciones anteriores, lo íntimo y lo económico se solapan y los sentidos que adquiere el dinero en ese proceso marca los vínculos familiares y amorosos. En el caso que analizamos, el dinero ocupa un lugar importante en la construcción del estatus familiar en el marco de la comunidad, así como en la de las jerarquías hacia el interior de las familias. Como podremos observar, el trabajo realizado en el medio familiar no supone una distribución igualitaria del dinero, sino que circula de maneras que permiten observar las posiciones desiguales que en ella ocupan distintos sujetos, e incluso la propia definición de un vínculo como familiar o no familiar, y de una actividad como trabajo o no trabajo.

In this article, through qualitative strategies, we will analyze the uses and meanings of money in families of Bolivian migrants who live and work in General Pueyrredon. As previous research has shown, the intimate and the economic, overlap and the senses that the money acquires in that process marks the familiar and loving links. In the case that we analyze, money have an important place in the construction of family status within the framework of the community, as well as that of hierarchies within families. As we can see, the work done in the family environment does not imply an equal distribution of money, but circulates in ways that allow observing the unequal positions that different subjects occupy in it, and even the definition of a link as familiar or unfamiliar, and of an activity like work or not work.
