Jorge por Jorge: Las Coplas de Manrique analizadas y repoetizadas por Borges

Abstract

Mediante un análisis del ensayo que Jorge Luis Borges dedicó a las Coplas a la muerte de su padre de Jorge Manrique, conjuntamente con las varias reescrituras que el autor argentino hace de ellas en su poesía, nos proponemos demostrar que no es en el logos argumentativo o analítico donde Borges interpreta mejor sus lecturas, sino en el mythos de su praxis poética y en la reescritura creativa de sus fuentes. Borges, incomparable poeta y narrador pero crítico arbitrario y rebatible, solo lee bien repoetizando, y solo poetiza bien releyendo, porque para él leer y poetizar constituyen un único acto creativo.

Through an analysis of Jorge Luis Borges’ critical essay devoted to Jorge Manrique’s Coplas a la muerte de su padre, together with the various rewritings of them along the poetical works of the Argentinian writer, we aim to demonstrate that Borges does not interpret his readings by arguing or analyzing them logically but rewriting them mythically and poetically. Borges, unparalleled poet and storyteller but high-handed and refutable critic, reads well just by repoetizing, and poeticizes well just by rereading, because he understands reading and poetizing as an only creative act.
