Motivos del maltrato escolar y del cyberbullying desde la perspectiva de los estudiantes. Un estudio con adolescentes de Buenos Aires

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es indagar y describir las razones o motivos que los estudiantes con edades comprendidas entre 13 y 18 años, escolarizados en escuelas ubicadas en territorio de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina, relacionan con el fenómeno de maltrato escolar tanto en su modalidad tradicional como cibernética -cyberbullying-. Asimismo, se propone distinguir los motivos aducidos por los estudiantes considerando su rol de implicación, víctima o agresor, en cada una de dichas modalidades. Se llevó a cabo un estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal y de diseño no experimental, utilizando una muestra no probabilística por accesibilidad conformada por 259 estudiantes (67.1% mujeres; edad M = 15.6; DT = 1.6), a quienes se les administraron las versiones adaptadas de los instrumentos denominados Cuestionario sobre Intimidación y Maltrato entre Iguales, Escala CYB ? VIC y Escala CYB ? AG. Los resultados obtenidos permiten observar que los estudiantes relacionan las situaciones de maltrato escolar con distintos motivos tales como la provocación, la asimetría de poder entre quienes ejercen el maltrato y aquellos que son maltratados, la percepción de debilidad, la necesidad de pertenencia grupal, la percepción negativa de diferencias individuales y el hecho de realizar una broma. Asimismo se observa que las razones referidas por los estudiantes son reportadas en proporciones disímiles teniendo en cuenta su rol de implicación como víctima o como agresor, tanto en situaciones de maltrato escolar como de cyberbullying. Se discuten las implicaciones prácticas de los resultados hallados a fin de favorecer al adecuado abordaje del maltrato escolar.

The objective of this work is to investigate and describe the reasons that students aged between 13 and 18 years, enrolled in schools located in the territory of Buenos Aires, Argentina, relate to the phenomenon of bullying, both in its traditional form and as cybernetics –cyberbullying-. Likewise, it is proposed to distinguish the motives adduced by the students considering their role of implication, victim or aggressor, in each one of these modalities. A descriptive, cross-sectional and non-experimental study was carried out, using a non-probabilistic sample by accessibility, consisting of 259 students (67.1% women, age M = 15.6, SD = 1.6), to whom the versions were administered adapted from the instruments called Cuestionario sobre Intimidación y Maltrato entre Iguales, Escala CYB – VIC y Escala CYB – AG. The results obtained allow us to observe that students relate the situations of bullying with different reasons such as provocation, the asymmetry of power between those who abuse and those who are mistreated, the perception of weakness, the need to belong to the group, the negative perception of individual differences and the fact of making a hoax. It is also noted that the reasons referred to by the students are reported in dissimilar proportions, considering their role of involvement as a victim or as an aggressor, both in situations of bullying and cyberbullying. The practical implications of the results found are discussed in order to favor the appropriate approach to school abuse between students.
