Modelos universitarios en Argentina: heterogeneidad institucional en el caso de la Universidad Nacional de San Martín

Abstract

El presente trabajo muestra los primeros resultados de un estudio más amplio orientado a analizar la multiplicidad de modalidades a través de las cuales es producido el conocimiento científico en las universidades argentinas. Para cumplir este objetivo diseñamos una estrategia de recolección de datos cuya lógica fue desde abajo hacia arriba permitiéndonos conocer en profundidad los modelos institucionales de las universidades seleccionadas. Aquí presentamos el caso de la Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM) cuya propuesta y modelo institucional se distingue en relación al resto de las universidades creadas en el conurbano bonaerense. La estructura del trabajo tiene tres partes: un recorrido histórico de la creación de universidades en el conurbano bonaerense; luego, una descripción analítica del devenir de la UNSAM desde su creación, destacando los momentos y eventos que fueron definiendo modelos institucionales diferentes hasta llegar al estado actual; y, finalmente, un análisis que vincula la imagen que la universidad construye “hacia afuera” y la estructura de relaciones que define el modelo de universidad “hacia adentro”. Las fuentes de información utilizadas fueron un conjunto de documentos y normativas institucionales y la realización de entrevistas en profundidad a informantes claves (funcionarios actuales en las distintas áreas).

This work shows the fi rst results of a broader study, aimed at analyzing the multiplicity of modalities through which scientific knowledge is produced in Argentine universities. To meet this objective, we designed a primary and secondary data collection strategy with a logic from the bottom up to know in depth the institutional models of the selected universities. Here we present the case of the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) showing the particular characteristics of its proposal and institutional model. The work is structured in three parts: a historical journey on the creation of universities in the Buenos Aires suburbs that contextualizes the genesis and period of creation of the UNSAM; a characterization and analytical description of the evolution of the institution since its creation, highlighting the moments and events that were defining different institutional models until reaching the current state; and, finally, an analysis that links the image that the university builds outwardly and the relationship structure that defines the model inward. The sources of information used were a set of statistics, documents and institutional regulations and the conduct of in-depth interviews with key informants (current officials in the diferent areas).
