Henri: Destellos trascendentalistas en Francia

Abstract

El artículo traza un recorrido por la recepción francesa de Henry David Thoreau. En contraposición a estudios previos que lamentan el escaso interés prestado a la obra del trascendentalista, destaca líneas diversas de interpretación que hacen honor a la multiplicidad de su pensamiento. La influencia de Thoreau sobre David Le Breton y Frédéric Gros informa sus reflexiones acerca de la civilización técnica e inspira una filosofía del caminar. Bachelard, en cambio, acude al hombre de Concord para nutrir su investigación en torno a los ensueños de reposo. Luego de contrastar estas lecturas, el artículo explora la afinidad entre las meditaciones de Thoreau en torno a la hospitalidad y las conferencias de Derrida sobre ese tópico filosófico.

The article presents a laconic outline concerning the french reception of Henry David Thoreau. In contrast with previous studies that lament the scarce interest aroused by the works of the transcendentalist, it highlights diverse lines of interpretation that honor the multiplicity of his thought. The influence of Thoreau on David Le Breton and Fréderic Gros informs their ideas about technical civilization and inspires a philosophy of walking. On the other hand, Bachelard turns to the man of Concord to nourish his inquiry into the reveries of repose. After comparing these readings, the article explores the affinity between Thoreau’s meditations on hospitality and the conferences on that subject by Derrida.
