Un archivo insomne: El Programa Memoria Colectiva e Inclusión Social y la filmación de los juicios

Abstract

En el 2010 la Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación y el Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales suscribieron un convenio para registrar los juicios de lesa humanidad que estaban teniendo lugar desde el 2006. A partir de dicho acuerdo, se crea el Programa Memoria Colectiva e Inclusión Social (MECIS) a fin de motorizar dicho objetivo. Hasta hoy, el MECIS lleva registrado más de quince mil horas de juicios, creando así un imponente reservorio visual. En sus fundamentos, el MECIS plantea su tarea como un trabajo de registro antes que la constitución de un archivo.En ese marco, el presente artículo se pregunta qué tipo de archivo se está gestando o se puede crear a partir de dicho registro. Para tal fin, se comenzará comprendiendo a estos juicios como "juicios didácticos" a fin de remarcar su eficacia simbólica. Luego de una breve contextualización histórica y de la presentación del MECIS, se tomarán algunos aspectos de la teoría de la memoria cultural desarrollada por Jan y Aleida Assmann con el fin de indagar al MECIS como archivo. En esa dirección, y por las características actuales de dicho programa, se sugerirá pensarlo, en términos de los Assmann, como una forma pasiva de recuerdo.

In 2010, the Supreme Court of Argentina and the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts signed an agreement to record the trials against humanity that had been taking place since 2006. As a result of this agreement, the Collective Memory and Social Inclusion Program (MECIS) was created to promote this objective. To date, MECIS has recorded more than fifteen thousand hours of material, thus creating an impressive visual reservoir. In its foundations, the MECIS proposes its task as a work of registration rather than the constitution of an archive. In this context, this article asks what kind of archive is being created or can be created from this registry. To this end, we will begin by understanding these trials as "didactic trials" in order to highlight their symbolic efficacy. After a brief historical contextualization and the presentation of the MECIS, some aspects of the theory of cultural memory developed by Jan and Aleida Assmann will be taken in order to investigate the MECIS as an archive. In this direction, and due to the current characteristics of this program, it will be suggested to think of it, in terms of the Assmanns, as a passive form of memory.
