La teoría crítica de la justicia de Nancy Fraser: Una reconstrucción periférica

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se persigue el objetivo de reconstruir y analizar la propuesta intelectual de Nancy Fraser, una de las responsables del proceso de descentralización, apertura e internacionalización que hoy en día experimenta la tradición de la teoría crítica de la sociedad. Siguiendo la hipótesis exploratoria de que la obra de la autora se centra en todo momento en la cuestión la justicia, se procede reponiendo las especificidades e implicancias de la noción de paridad participativa, la iniciativa de sintetizar en un solo marco conceptual las dimensiones de la (re)distribución económica, el reconocimiento cultural y la representación política, la tentativa de poner en pie una teoría ampliada del capitalismo y la tematización de una coyuntura como la presente, la cual es objeto de una grave crisis de hegemonía. Se ofrece, asimismo, un excurso destinado a determinar hasta qué punto las contribuciones de Fraser son útiles para dar cuenta de una realidad periférica como la de América Latina.

The aim of this paper is to reconstruct and analyze the intellectual proposal of Nancy Fraser, who is responsible for the process of decentralization, openness and internationalization which the tradition of critical theory of society is experiencing nowadays. Following the exploratory hypothesis that the author’s work is focused at all times on the question of justice, the paper proceeds by explaining the specificities and implications of the notion of participatory parity, the initiative of synthesizing in a single conceptual framework the dimensions of economic (re)distribution, cultural recognition and political representation, the attempt of setting up an expanded theory of capitalism and the description of a situation like the present one, which is subject of a serious crisis of hegemony. An excursus intended to determine the extent to which Fraser’s contributions are useful to address a peripheral reality such as that of Latin America is also provided.
