Territorio, dueños y rogativas entre los chanés del noroeste argentino

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar un acercamiento etnográfico a los modos en los que los chanés del noroeste argentino conceptualizan su territorio y a las diversas formas a través de las cuales median ritualmente con los distintos seres que lo integran. Un elemento relevante del análisis es la práctica de yerure o rogativas a los iyareta o dueños, la cual estudiaré desde un punto de vista discursivo al retomar fundamentalmente los aportes teóricos de la etnografía del habla. Más allá de sus características distintivas, la rogativa representa uno de los principales modos culturales a través de los cuales los chanés contemporáneos lidian y negocian con su entorno.

The aim of this paper is to take an ethnographical look at the ways in which the Chanés of Northwestern Argentina conceptualize their territory, and the various ways in which they ritually mediate with the different beings it comprises. A key element of the analysis is the study of the practice of yerure, or supplications, to the iyareta, or owners, which I consider from a discursive point of view, mainly taking up the theoretical contributions from the ethnography of speaking. With its distinctive characteristics, these supplications represent one of the cultural ways in which the contemporary Chanés deal with and negotiate their environment.
