La izquierda argentina ante la guerra árabe-israelí de octubre de 1973

Abstract

El presente artículo aborda las posiciones del Partido Comunista de Argentina (PC), el Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores (PRT), el Partido Socialista de los Trabajadores (PST), el Partido Comunista Revolucionario (PCR) y Política Obrera (PO), cinco organizaciones de la izquierda argentina, frente a la guerra de Yom Kippur/Ramadán. El trabajo presenta una contextualización de las organizaciones, sus vínculos con las colectividades árabe y judía de Argentina, así como sus conexiones internacionales en el marco de la détente entre Estados Unidos y la Unión Soviética. Los diferentes posicionamientos son analizados a partir de sus publicaciones periódicas, folletos y testimonios de dirigentes y militantes. Todas estas organizaciones apoyaron el lado árabe en el conflicto, aunque el PRT y el PCR no le prestaron mayor atención. El PC, el PST y PO, por el contrario, sí mostraron un interés importante, con algunas nuevas elaboraciones, especialmente en el caso del PST, que pasó a reclamar la destrucción del Estado de Israel. PO, que ya había adoptado esta consigna en 1967, sumó la consigna de la destrucción de Jordania. El PC siguió defendiendo la existencia de Israel, aunque comenzó a favorecer los vínculos con organizaciones árabes en su trabajo internacional. El texto analiza también el uso de ciertos elementos coincidentes con el discurso antisemita en el debate entre las organizaciones de izquierda y en sus publicaciones.

This article analyzes the positions of the Communist Party of Argentina (PC), the Revolutionary Workers Party (PRT), the Socialist Workers Party (PST), the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR) and Workers’ Politics (PO), five organizations of the Argentine Left, in relation to the Yom Kippur/ Ramadan War. The text presents a contextualization of these organizations, their links with the Arab and Jewish communities of Argentina, as well as their international connections within the framework of the USA-USSR détente. Their different stances are assessed as they appear in their periodicals, pamphlets, and in testimonies of political leaders and activists. All these organizations supported the Arab side during the conflict, although the PRT and the PCR did not pay detailed attention to it. The PC, the PST and PO, on the contrary, showed considerable interest, with some new elaborations, particularly in the case of the PST, which began to call for the destruction of the state of Israel. PO, which had already adopted this slogan in 1967, added to it the slogan calling for the destruction of Jordan. The PC continued to defend the existence of Israel, although they began to favor their links with Arab organizations in their international networks. The article also analyzes the use of certain elements typical of the antisemitic discourse in the debate between the organizations of the Left and in their publications.
