Ciencias sociales, salud mental y control social: Notas para una contribución a la investigación

Abstract

El campo de la salud mental es indudablemente complejo, y los aportes a su estudio no se agotan en las disciplinas de tipo clínico. Antes bien, otros saberes, profesiones, experiencias, tradiciones y disciplinas que no se inscriben ni definen por una tradición clínica también están en condiciones de realizar aportes analíticos que contribuyan a la comprensión de esta complejidad, no armonía y devenir del campo. De esas experiencias, para este escrito interesa recuperar algunos aportes provenientes de las ciencias sociales, y más específicamente de algunas tradiciones de pensamiento sociológico, histórico y filosófico ligadas a la corriente del control social.Empleando métodos analítico-interpretativos sobre bibliografía específica, en este escrito se presentan algunos aportes de diversos autores procedentes de distintas perspectivas, que comparten el interés por analizar la salud mental en términos histórico-sociales, y vincularla con procesos sociales de más amplio espectro que incluyen interrogaciones por la normalidad, la salud, el conflicto social, el poder, la verdad y el saber, entre otras nociones, seguidas de algunas conclusiones.

The field of mental health is undoubtedly complex, and the contributions to its study are not restrained by clinical disciplines. Rather, other knowledges, professions, experiences, traditions and disciplines that are not registered or defined by a clinical tradition are also in a position to make analytical contributions that contribute to the understanding of this complexity, not harmony and becoming of the field. From these experiences, for this paper it is interesting to recover some contributions from the social sciences, and more specifically from some traditions of sociological, historical and philosophical thought linked to the current of social control. Using analytical-interpretive methods on specific bibliography, this paper presents some contributions from diverse authors from different perspectives, who share the interest in analyzing mental health in historical-social terms, and link it with broader social processes that include questions about normality, health, social conflict, power, truth and knowledge, among other notions, followed by some conclusions.
