El metamorfismo de contacto del Granito La Escalerilla en el área de La Carolina, San Luis

Abstract

Se determinaron las condiciones de presión y temperatura en muestras correspondientes a la porción norte del Granito La Escalerilla y a las rocas metamórficas de la caja, pertenecientes a la Formación San Luis, a distintas distancias desde el contacto de la intrusión. Los resultados han permitido determinar los gradientes térmicos en la roca hospedante para diferentes tiempos (t0, t1 y t2), vinculados al emplazamiento del plutón La Escalerilla. Se estima que las metamorfitas habrían recibido aporte térmico de parte del plutón, hasta una distancia aproximada de un kilómetro desde el contacto con el intrusivo, por consiguiente este aporte dio lugar al desarrollo de una aureola de esquistos, caracterizada por presentar condiciones metamórficas de mayor grado dentro de la Formación San Luis. Los valores de gradiente geotérmico calculados son relativamente bajos e indican un metamorfismo regional de presión media, que probablemente representan una etapa tardía en el desarrollo de un arco magmático famatiniano, o bien representen un área marginal del mismo, ampliamente desarrollado hacia el norte. Sugieren además, que durante la intrusión del granito La Escalerilla y probablemente durante su etapa de enfriamiento, aumentó considerablemente la presión litostática, debido a un rápido apilamiento tectónico que no permitió el ascenso de dicho gradiente.

Pressure and temperature conditions in samples from the northern portion of the La Escalerilla Granite were determined, together with the host rocks metamorphic that corresponds to the San Luis Formation, at different distances from the contact with intrusion. The results allow to determine the thermal gradients of the host rock for different times (t0, t1 y t2), related to the La Escalerilla pluton emplacement. It is estimated that the metamorphic rocks located approximately at a distance greater to 1 kilometer from the contact with the La Escalerilla Granite, would not have received the heat of the same, because of the absorbed dissipation within the rocks located on the edge inmediate of the intrusion. This led to the development of an aureole of schists, characterized by higher grade metamorphic conditions, within the San Luis formation. The values determined of geothermal gradient are relatively low and indicate a regional medium-pressure metamorphism, which probably represent an a late stage in the development of a famatinian magmatic arc, or represent a marginal area thereof, widely developed to the north. It is also suggested that during the intruded of the La Escalerilla Granite, and probably during the cooling stage, significantly increased lithostatic pressure, due to fast stacking tectonic, did not allowed the rise of the geothermal gradient.
