Abstract

A Historical archaeology perspective centered on the past of Argentina and Latin America would require the existence of its own publication. In the Republic of Argentina, despite numerous investigations developed within this field of knowledge, peer-reviewed periodical publications did not exist till approximately five years ago. Faced with this panorama, it was proposed in 2007 to undertake a publication with the principal goals being to gather together the recent outputs of Latin-American researchers and to become a regional reference for the discipline. Under these tenets, the Revista de Arqueología Histórica Argentina y Latinoamericana (ISSN 1851-3190), was created, (the Journal of Argentine and Latin-American Historical Archaeology), an annual peer-reviewed publication, co-edited with the Argentine Anthropology Society. Its general objective is to publish works that make an original contribution to the field of Historical Archaeology, as well as to related disciplines and subject matter (History, Historical Anthropology, and Ethno-History, among others). The articles consider epistemic, theoretical and methodological aspects as well as presenting the research results of Latin-American case studies.
