Regime archives: The argentine case

Abstract

This chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the Transition to Democracy in the Argentine case, specially the problem of the regime Archives ("archivos de la represión"). Includes, between others, the next issues: content of the secret service archives; attempts to destroy the operation documentation of the political police; use of archives during transformation; risks related to the use of the archives; public control over the archives; declassification and opening up of the archives; right to the access the archives; dealing with individual rights and personal data.
