La place d`Henri Pièron et de la psychologie expérimentale francaise dans la psychologie argenine

Abstract

Since the 1940 decade, Argentine reception of Henry Piéron's work contributed to the development of psycho-technics in this country. Piéron became a symbol of experimental psychology and psychology's professionalization in Argentina. By the end of the fifties and early sixties, the tradition that Piéron represented, namely French experimental and applied psychology, contributed to set the scientific culture of psychology programs in that country. It is analysed the destination this reception had in two psychology programs, showing differential effects of maintaining it, or replacing it. Ideological and political forces that fostered and later resisted this French tradition are inquired, as well as the fruits of its legacy.
