Évolution du marché intérieur des machines agricoles en Argentine (1870-1940): une réflexion basée sur des données empiriques

Abstract

Several authors suggest that the Pampas did not have an adequate mechanization, like in other grain-producing regions, during the first half of the twentieth century. Among other reasons, it`s attributed to limits in the domestic market of agricultural machinery in the country. That would have been an obstacle to its manufacture. However, empirical evidence shows otherwise. Argentina had agricultural machinery according to their needs, enabling it to be one of the leading grain exporters during the 20th century. In this article, We analyze the evolution of the domestic market for agricultural machinery, in order to understand if it was an obstacle to the capitalist development in Argentina.
