Descentramiento de lo religioso, centralización de Israel y construcción de lo judeo-LGBTI

Abstract

El artículo analiza las relaciones entre lo judío y lo LGBTI, rechazando la hipótesis de una necesaria relación de tensión entre ambos la cual se derivaría de la condenada bíblica a las prácticas homosexuales. Para ello, analiza el proceso de descentramiento de lo religioso en la construcción moderna de lo judío y el creciente papel que el Estado de Israel ha ido cobrando en tanto referente de identificación entre las poblaciones judías de diversos contextos nacionales, especialmente en América latina. La referencia a Israel se expresa en una matriz de significado que hemos denominado israelismo. De este modo, el israelismo constituye el basamento de una práctica diaspórica realizada por activistas judíos LGBTI en el interior de determinadas organizaciones judeo- LGBTI. El israelismo consiste en la construcción de una imagen de Israel en un contexto donde otros actores apuntan a la deslegitimación de ese Estado. Una de las fuentes de legitimación consiste en reafirmar el carácter gay friendly de Israel. De este modo, los activistas judeo- LGBTI ponen en escena un discurso que los vincula a Israel y, por esta vía, al judaísmo.

The paper analyzes the relationships between Jewish and LGBTI identification, rejecting the hypothesis that a tension arises between both of them, tension that would be deduced from the biblical condemnation to homosexual practices. In order to address the issue, the paper analyses the process of religious decentralization in the modern construction of Judaism and the raising of the State of Israel as a mark of identification among the Jewish population. Reference to Israel is expressed through a matrix of meaning that we have called Israelism. Israelism became the very base for a diasporic practice that can be observed in LGBTI Jewish activist inside LGBTI Jewish organizations. The Israelism lays in the construction of an image of Israel that confronts the negative image constructed by anti-israelist activist. As a source of legitimization, the gay friendly character of Israel is emphasized by the LGBTI Jewish activist. By doing this, the activist built a discourse that connects them to Judaism through the identification to Israel.
