Le Nord du Chili : l'isolat énergétique d'un désert minier

Abstract

Este artículo aborda la territorialización del sistema energético en el Norte Grande (Chile). Las empresas mineras han jugado un rol mayor en el poblamiento y organización espacial de la región y conformaron las redes energéticas en función de sus estrategias. La desregulación del sector energético y las transformaciones en las redes permitieron a los actores dominantes construir nuevas infraestructuras, sin conectarse al resto del país. Una integración internacional incompleta fue realizada, pero deja muchos problemas sin resolver.

Cet article porte sur la territorialisation du système énergétique du Norte Grande (Chili). Les entreprises minières ont joué un rôle déterminant sur le peuplement et l’organisation spatiale de la région et ont configuré le réseau en fonction de leurs stratégies. La dérégulation de l’activité énergétique et la transformation des réseaux ont permis aux grands acteurs économiques d’envisager de nouvelles infrastructures d’énergie sans interconnexion avec le reste du pays. Une intégration internationale partielle a été réalisée, mais elle laisse de nombreux problèmes non résolus.

This article examines the territorialisation of the energy system in the Norte Grande (Chile). Mining firms have played a major role in the peopling and the spatial organization of the region. They have been able to build energy networks adapted to their needs ans strategies. The deregulation of the energy activity and the changes of the networks have allowed the major economic actors to build new energy infrastructures without interconnection with the rest of the country. An uncompleted international integration has been carried out, but it leaves many problems unsolved.
