Tipo de cambio y demanda turística internacional: El caso de la Argentina

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar, desde la perspectiva turística, la relación del turismo receptivo y la evolución del tipo de cambio real multilateral turístico entre 2008 y 2018 en la Argentina. Se consideran los datos del itcrmt y la llegada de turistas internacionales a la Argentina en el periodo 2008-2018. Se aplica el análisis de serie de tiempo para conocer el comportamiento secular, estacional y cíclico de las variables. La relación entre ellas se realiza a partir del análisis de los gráficos, considerando los momentos de inflexión en el comportamiento de las variables e interpretando las relaciones a la luz de los hechos socioeconómicos ocurridos entre 2008 y 2018. Las variables presentan una tendencia relativamente estable y se identifica el componente estacional e irregular. En el período de estudio las variables no se asocian de forma directa durante toda la serie, aunque se observa un comportamiento semejante en diferentes momentos. Esto pone de manifiesto que el ITCRMT es una variable relevante en el comportamiento de la demanda internacional.

The aim of this paper is to analyze from a touristic point of view, the relationship between receptive tourism and the evolution of the real multilateral tourism exchange rate between 2008 and 2018 in Argentina. itcrmt data and the arrival of international tourists to Argentina in this period are considered. A time series analysis is applied to know the secular, seasonal and cyclic behavior of the variables. The relationship between them is based on the analysis and interpretation of the graphics, considering the turning points in the behavior of the variables and interpreting the relationships according to the socio-economic events between 2008 and 2018. In addition, tourist arrival variables were logged for two trimesters and compared to explore for itcrmt effects. The variables show a relatively stable trend and a seasonal and irregular component is identified. In the study period, the variables are not linearly associated, although similar behavior is evident at different times. This shows that ITCRMT is a relevant variable in the behavior of international demand.
