Legislación médica en Outremer ¿Un modelo local?

Abstract

En el Reino Latino de Jerusalén las relaciones sociales de los sujetos libres que no formaban parte de la nobleza eran reguladas por los llamados Assises de la Cour des Bourgeois. Redactado entre los años 1240 y 1244 este cuerpo de leyes señala numerosos aspectos sobre el funcionamiento de la sociedad que los europeos conformaron en Outremer luego de la conquista de la región de Siria y Palestina. Dentro de dicha sociedad el papel que desplegaron los médicos no fue menor. Su práctica se encontraba regulada en una sección específica de los Assises... El estudio de la misma arroja información sobre la circulación y producción de conocimientos médicos en la región y asimismo nos permite entender la concepción sobre la salud y la práctica médica que existieron en este espacio. De este modo, en este trabajo nos interrogamos a partir del análisis de la sección médica de los Assises... sobre la tarea de aquellos que se dedicaron al arte de curar en el Oriente Latino, así como sobre el origen y la apropiación de saberes en el Mediterráneo Oriental en época de las cruzadas.

In the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem the social relations of the freemen who were not part of the nobility, were regulated by the so called Assises de la Cour des Bourgeois. Written between the years 1240-1244, this legal corpus points out a lot of aspects about the functioning of the society that the Europeans created in Outremer after the conquer of the Palestinian and Syrian regions. Within this society, the role played by physicians was no less. Their practice was regulated in a specific section of the Assises... The study of this section provides information about the circulation and production of medical knowledge in this space and also allow us to understand the conception about health and the medical practice that existed in this place. In this way, we interrogated ourselves in this work by the analysis of the medical section of the Assises... about the task of those who dedicated themselves to the art of healing in the Latin East, as well as on the origin and appropriation of knowledge in the Eastern Mediterranean at the time of the Crusades.
