Procesamiento emocional: análisis del desempeño en una tarea tipo Stroop emocional en niñas y niños preescolares

Abstract

Existen múltiples versiones de tareas tipo Stroop emocional.Algunas versiones utilizan palabras mientras queotras utilizan estímulos pictóricos, cuyas ventajas sonprovocar una mayor reactividad y su posible utilizaciónen poblaciones que aún no desarrollaron la habilidad delectura. En este trabajo, niñas y niños de 4 a 8 años deedad fueron evaluados en una tarea tipo Stroop con valenciaemocional. Las/os participantes fueron agrupadas/os en función de su nivel de escolaridad (Preescolar oPrimaria). Se encontraron diferencias entre los gruposen el Tiempo de Reacción (TR) del bloque congruente yuna tendencia en el bloque incongruente de la tarea. Enambos casos, el TR resultó mayor en el grupo de escolaridadPrimaria. Teniendo en cuenta la mayor atención querecibió el estudio de los estímulos negativos por su mayorsaliencia, esta investigación aporta evidencia que exploraespecíficamente el efecto de estímulos positivos en lainteracción entre el procesamiento emocional y cognitivodurante el desarrollo.

There are multiple versions of emotional Stroop tasks. Some versions use words while others use pictorial stimuli, the advantages of which are to provoke greater reactivity and their possible use in populations that have not yet developed the ability to read. In this work, children from 4 to 8 years old were evaluated in a Stroop-like task with emotional valence. The participants were grouped according to their level of schooling (Preschool or Elementary). Differences were found between the groups in the Reaction Time (RT) of the congruent block and a tendency in the incongruent block of the task. In both cases, the RT was higher in the Elementary school group. Taking into account the greater attention given to the study of negative stimuli due to their greater salience, this research provides evidence that specifically explores the effect of positive stimuli on the interaction between emotional and cognitive processing during development.
